Mission for Eric's Adventures in Golf

At Eric's Adventures in Golf-- a leading golf blog -- we will record the challenges and successes in becoming a better golfer and working at golf tournaments, and talk about all the happenings on the golf tours. Each week, we will talk about the PGA Tour and how Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are doing. In addition, we will focus on the LPGA tour, with Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, and all the others. The blog will examine the Champions Tour, and talk about Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, and the new golfers who join the tour. We provide golf statistics and friendly Avatars who bring out crisp analysis in their commentary. Finally, the golf blog will discuss my experiences working as a volunteer in golf tournaments as both a walking scorer and a pro caddy. This adventure has been chronicled since early 2007 with over 330 blog postings, and will continue through 2008.

Congratulations to Volleyball Winners Misty May and Walsh

Although not really related to golf, we here at Eric's Adventures would like to offer our congratulations to Gold Medal winners Misty May and Kerri Walsh for their outstanding efforts at the Olympics. They rolled through their seven matches in straight sets and showed why they are the number one beach volleyball team in the world. So, lately when not watching golf, we are watching Misty May and Kerri Walsh win the gold!

Champions Tour Most Career Wins

Folks, we have not reviewed the career statistics in a little while and it is time to revisit the issue of career wins on the Champions (formally Senior) PGA Tour. Hale Irwin still leads the list with 45 and we hope that he adds another to the list, but he has had a shaky year so far. Gil Morgan is still competitive and he might add to his totals. Down the list a bit are Jay Haas and Tom Watson, both of whom have won this year. We expect both of them to add to their respective totals.

We're Baaaack!

That's right folks! After a couple week hiatus where we moved to a brand new place and got set up, it is time to resume our quest for great golf analysis. But don't fret. We will go back and fill in the gaps from the best golf during the last 2 weeks, and make sure you are up to date. (Hope you don't mind if we back date?) What is the big story recently? Well, it is Padraig's win over Sergio last week of course in the PGA Championship. More later!

Luck of the Irish - Part 2

As we reported a couple weeks back about the British Open, winners find a way to win, and it does not hurt to have a little extra luck of the Irish. Padraig Harrington managed a double take, and put himself in better position to challenge Tiger for player of the year with his second major win, today at the PGA Championship. Our old friend Sergio Garcia came up short like he has on many other majors by losing strokes down the stretch. Here are the scores per day for the top 7, and a map of Ireland.

1 Padraig Harrington 71 74 66 66 277
T2 Sergio Garcia 69 73 69 68 279
T2 Ben Curtis 73 67 68 71 279
T4 Camilo Villegas 74 72 67 68 281
T4 Henrik Stenson 71 70 68 72 281
